How to Use the 3D Floor Planner on Mobile

With the Houzz Pro app, there are many ways to interact with the 3D Floor Planner. You can create a new 3D floor plan by using the 3D Room Scanner, or you can view an existing 3D floor plan. At this time, you cannot edit an existing floor plan within the mobile app – you will need to use your desktop computer to do this.

To start using the mobile 3D Floor Planner, you will first need to download the Houzz Pro app from the App Store or Google Play.

Create New 3D Floor Plan

To create a new 3D floor plan using the 3D Room Scanner, open up the Houzz Pro app. From the homepage, you can either:

  • Select 3D Room Scan from the Create New section at the top of your screen.
  • Tap the Create button at the bottom of your screen, then select 3D Room Scan from the menu.

You will then be directed to slowly move your device to start capturing the room's measurements. For a step-by-step guide on how to complete a mobile scan, read How to Scan a Room With the Mobile App.

Once your scan is complete, you will be able to save your floor plan to a project and make measurement or design changes from your desktop computer. You could also turn it into a PDF to keep for yourself or share with your clients.

View Existing 3D Floor Plan

While you are not able to edit an existing 3D floor plan's measurements or design on your mobile app, you can view existing floor plans on your device.

To view a 3D floor plan, open up the Houzz Pro app. From the homepage, you can either:

  • Scroll down to the 3D Floor Plans section, then select the relevant floor plan.
  • Tap the More button at the bottom of you screen, then select 3D Floor Plans from the menu. You will then see a list of all your floor plans and can select the relevant file.
  • Tap the Project button at the bottom of your screen, then select the relevant project. From here, scroll down to the 3D Floor Plans section, where you will find a list of your floor plans for that specific project.

If you are viewing all your 3D Floor Plans, you can tap the three dots icon on the right of your plan to Share, Rename or Delete.

If you open up a specific floor plan, you can:

  • Rename the plan by tapping the pencil icon next to the title.
  • Share the plan by tapping the share icon at the top of your screen.
  • Open up the AR scanning experience by tapping the AR icon.
  • View the plan in 2D or 3D mode by selecting the relevant mode.
  • Adjust view settings and measurement units by tapping the eye icon at the top of your screen (more details below).
  • Zoom in and out of the plan by tapping directly on the plan itself.
  • Make ruler measurements directly on your plan by tapping the ruler icon at the bottom of your screen.
Adjust View Settings and Measurement Units

If you tap the eye icon, you can adjust the settings for your 3D floor plan.

  • Re-centre will bring you back to the centre view of your plan.
  • Measurement Units allows you to adjust the measurement unit you want to show – Feet, Inches, Metres, Centimetres or Millimetres. To make a change, tap on the existing measurement unit, then tap the circle next to your preferred unit.
  • Show Rulers is where you can turn on/off visibility of any ruler lines added to your floor plan.
  • Show Wall Dimensions is where you can turn on/off visibility of any wall dimensions on your floor plan.
  • Show Grid is where you can turn on/off visibility of the box grid background on your floor plan.
