How to Create Proposals on the Mobile App

On the Houzz Pro mobile app, create professional and branded proposals in minutes, wherever you are – whether it's at the job-site, in the office, or on the go. Follow the steps in this tutorial to learn how to quickly create a professional proposal on the app:

1) Create/Open New Proposal

From the app homepage, tap Proposal from the Create New section, or tap the Create icon in the bottom menu and select Proposal (you can access this menu from most sections within the app).

There are several options when creating your proposal. You can:

  • Create a proposal from scratch
  • Create a proposal from an existing template

Please note this step is only available on iOS devices.

Next, choose an existing project or lead from your lists, or tap Create a new project to create a new one for this proposal.

2) Edit Document Name, Settings and Client Info

If needed, you can adjust the document name and client info by tapping the pencil icon next to the respective field. You can also choose to show/hide images and descriptions, as well as manage your columns by tapping the settings (gear) icon at the top of your Items section.

3) Add Items to Proposal

To add line items to your proposal, tap Add Items under the Item section, or tap the + icon next to the settings icon at the top of the page. From here you can manually create a new item or choose from your My Items library, Templates or Recent Proposals.

4) Set Markup & Discounts

Once you've added items to your proposal, you can set any markup or discounts applicable to the document. You will find these after the Items section; tap the pencil icon next to any field you wish to edit.

5) Schedule Payments

Once you have any markup and discounts set, you can create a payment schedule for the client. Tap Schedule a Payment in the Payments section to create a single payment for the total amount. Tap it again to add multiple payments. The payments will automatically be evenly split up by the number of scheduled payments. Tap any payment to adjust the name, amount and payment terms.

6) Attach Files

Add any relevant files to your proposal, like images of the space or products that you've snapped on your phone, by tapping Add Files under the Files section. You'll be able to choose any applicable files from your mobile device or recently used files.

7) Add Terms & Conditions, Memos, Due Date

To add any terms and conditions and/or memos to the proposal, tap Add under the respective section or Edit if you already have templates set up. You'll be able to format the text with various options to present a professional layout to your client or lead.

Next, confirm the document owner and pick a due date for the proposal.

8) Preview & Send the Proposal

Before sharing your proposal, you can preview it and choose exactly how it will look to your client. Tap Preview & Send at the bottom of the screen, then use the Settings dropdown at the top of the preview to toggle on/off the relevant information you want to show or hide from the client. If you want to have your client approve items individually, make sure you check off "Approve per line item" in the Approval menu.

When you're ready, tap Share at the bottom of the preview to share the proposal with your client through a Houzz Pro message, a shareable link, or an email. Your clients can view the proposal and approve or decline it directly from their computer, phone, or tablet device.

9) More Actions

Under the Actions menu, you can access more actions, such as: Collect a signature, mark the document as Approved or Declined, create an invoice, duplicate proposal, save as template, view activity stream, archive proposal, download as PDF, and delete proposal.
