How to Edit the Header and Footer on Your Houzz Website

While often seen as a small detail, both the header and footer of your company website can make a big impact on potential clients inquiring about a project. It's important to make sure that both provide helpful information and create a positive impression.

The header is the top section of your website. It includes your logo, navigation menu, and sometimes contact information or a call-to-action. Since it appears on every page, the header makes it easy for visitors to find key links.

The footer is the bottom section of your website. It often includes contact information, social media links, and your privacy policy. Like the header, it appears on every page.

This article will review how to make edits to both the header and the footer on your Houzz website.

Edit Website Header

Watch the video below or read step-by-step instructions to learn more about editing your header.

To edit your Houzz website header, click the header, then click the Edit Header button in the top-right corner.

Here, you'll have options to adjust your logo, rearrange your navigation menu, change the layout, and enable a promotional banner if you choose.

As you make changes, be sure to select Save, then Publish Changes in the upper-right corner.

Edit Navigation Menu

To edit the navigation, select Navigation from the left side of the Header menu.

You will see your linked pages listed at the top, in the order they appear on your website. At the bottom, you'll find your unlinked pages.

To add a page to your menu, drag and drop it from the unlinked pages area (at the bottom) to the desired position among your linked pages (at the top).

Alternatively, you can click the + icon next to an unlinked page to add it, or the Trash Can icon next to a linked page to remove it from the navigation.

Create a Dropdown Folder

Dropdown folders allow you to group related pages under a single menu item, keeping your navigation clean and organised.

To start, click Create Dropdown Folder in the top-right area of the Navigation section.

Give your new folder a name (this is what visitors will see in your header), then click the checkmark to save the folder name.

You can then drag and drop pages into this new dropdown folder from your linked or unlinked pages list to include them in the dropdown menu.

Add a Promo Banner

The promo banner is a customisable strip that appears just above your website's header. It's perfect for displaying a short promotional message, your contact information, or a call-to-action button.

Select Promo Banner from the left side of the Header menu, then turn on the toggle to Enable Promo Banner.

More details will appear. Enter your promotional message in the provided field. (You can also press the space bar once to leave this blank if you only want to display contact info or a button.)

Use the checkboxes to add or remove your contact information. Use the toggle to enable or disable the Call To Action button.

Edit Website Footer

Watch the video below or read step-by-step instructions to learn more about editing your footer.

To edit your Houzz website footer, click the footer, then click the Edit Footer button in the top-right corner.

Here, you'll have options to adjust your layout, add or remove content, enable/disable the contact bubble, and enable/disable the privacy policy.

As you make changes, be sure to select Save, then Publish Changes in the upper-right corner.

Contact Bubble

If you would like to add a floating contact bubble to your footer, select Contact Bubble from the left side of the Footer menu, then turn on the toggle to Enable Floating Contact Bubble.

More details will appear. You can edit the Introduction Message for the contact bubble — you can also switch from a primary button to a secondary button to change the styles.
