How to Manage Subcontractor Trades

You can easily keep your subcontractors organised in Houzz Pro by assigning one or more trades per subcontractor. This will allow you to quickly find the type of subcontractor you need for each project, according to their trade(s).

Create & Assign Trades

To assign a trade to a subcontractor, you must be in the "Edit" or "Add New" subcontractor screen, both of which can be accessed from your Subcontractors page, found under the Company menu.

Within the edit or add screen, find the trade dropdown under the General Details section, and select one or more existing trades to assign to the subcontractor — you will see the selected trade(s) appear at the top of the dropdown.

You can easily add your own custom subcontractor trade by typing and clicking + Create trade. This custom trade will be available to assign to other subcontractors as well.

Once you've added trades to your subcontractors you'll see them appear in the Trade column on the Subcontractors page for quick reference.

Use the Filter function at the top to narrow down the trade(s) of subcontractors you're looking for. This is especially helpful for companies with large subcontractor lists.

Manage Trades

You can edit or delete your trades in the Manage Trades modal, which can be accessed from the Actions menu on the Subcontractors overview page or from the edit view on an individual subcontractor. To access the edit view, click Edit on the far right of any subcontractor.

Within the Edit page, scroll to the General Details section and click into the Trade dropdown, then select Manage Trades at the bottom of the list.

In the Manage Trades modal you can edit the name of a trade or delete a trade using the icons to the right of each one. If you choose to delete a trade you will be asked to confirm – the trade will be removed from all subcontractors that it is currently assigned to and can't be undone.
